Christmas stockings & polar fleece puppy hat - sewing with children.

For the month of November I have been teaching three lovely young ladies ages 6, 8 and 11 years how to sew.  The Christmas stocking was last week's lesson.
This free pattern was printed, cut and put together.
The hangers were made from scraps of broadcloth.
I marked the stitching line on the wrong side.
The white stocking top is polar fleece.
Clip the curves.

I free motion quilted jesters' hats on the blue fabric and heart-shaped leaves on the white Christmas fabric.

It took about four hours to free motion quilt enough fabric for two stockings.
Today we are sewing polar fleece hats with puppy ears.

Happy stitching!

  1. I have just been exploring your blog as part of Blogathon Canada. I have had a wonderful time. Your vintage machine collection is awesome. That was quite a massive antibullying bus blanket! I hope Ottawa gets the message today. Your bowties want me to make one for everyone in my life but none of them would have need to wear them or would actually wear a bowtie! Thank you for passing the love sewing onto the three young ladies. Take care.
